Hastings Massage Therapy

Do I need a deep tissue sports massage in Hastings?

Muscles not only move our joints, but also stabilise them too. Minor problems can seriously affect function and cause pain and discomfort. Just because it is called a 'sports' massage - it is not just for sportsmen! A sports massage is suitable for people of all ages, all genders and all levels of fitness. A deep tissue sports massage is most effective when you require relief from chronic pain, sports injury or muscle specific tension in soft tissues. It also works to treat and prevent muscle injuries, pain and soreness.

We use traditional techniques of Swedish massage but also incorporate advanced soft tissue techniques such as muscle energy techniques, soft tissue release, myofascial release and trigger point therapy to achieve ultimate pain relief. I use a range of motion and flexibility tests to exactly locate the area of injury, the cause of discomfort and then work on rectifying the issue.

What are the benefits of a sports massage?

A sports massage is so effective as it encourages change to the soft tissue layers, from superficial to deep tissue layers. There are many benefits you can expect from a sports massage including:

  • Increased flexibility and wider ability of motion
  • Relaxation and reduces muscle tension
  • Can assist break down scar tissue and adhesions
  • Reduces symptomatic pain
  • Indicates any potential problems
  • Increases usage of available muscle
  • Improves performance
  • Stimulates micro-circulation improving rehabilitation and recovery times
  • Improves self-awareness
  • Fine-tuning of training
  • Functional muscle balance
