Sports Massage Eastbourne

remedial massage

Welcome to Life Work Balance Massage Therapy. I treat all patients whether they participate in sport or not. Whether you are injured or just looking for regular 'maintenance', we can certainly help. I have previously been a Therapist to Portsmouth FC Ladies during the 2016/17 Season (1st Team & Development Squad), and I work with Eastbourne Rugby Club as Therapist and, on match days, pitchside 1st Aid.

I’m proud to be a full member of the Sports Therapy Organisation and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council. The STO is a UK membership organisation for Professional Sports Injury & Soft Tissue Therapists. Membership of these organisations requires that you complete a minimum number of CPD (Continuing Professional Development) hours each year – which means attending workshops and seminars, ensuring that both my skills and knowledge are kept up to date. My most recent CPD courses being Spinal Manipulation & Mobilisation and Neurological testing.

Sports Massage in Eastbourne

Sports and remedial massage is not limited to athletes – it is suitable for anyone irrespective of age, level of fitness or gender. If you are suffering from muscle specific tension or chronic pain a sports and remedial massage may be exactly what you need! It is one of the most effective, readily available treatments to prevent and treat muscle injuries, pain and soreness. Not only do muscles move our joints, they stabilise them, so any minor problems can adversely affect function and cause a lot more pain than people realise.

Although sports and remedial massage still uses the more traditional techniques of Swedish massage, these are further enhanced by incorporating advanced soft tissue techniques - such as muscle energy technique, soft tissue release, trigger point therapy and myofascial release. Treatment is aimed at encouraging positive change to the soft tissue layers, from superficial to deep. These advanced techniques, along with functional range of motion and flexibility tests, will allow me to locate the area of injury, pinpoint areas of pain, what may be causing it and how we can work together to rectify the problem!

Benefits of Sports & Remedial Massage include:

  • Greater flexibility and range of motion.
  • Reduces muscle tension and promotes relaxation.
  • Helps break down scar tissue and adhesions.
  • Reduces symptomatic pain.
  • Allows for the early identification of potential problems.
  • Increased usage of available muscle.
  • Improved performance.
  • Stimulates micro-circulation improving recovery times and rehabilitation.
  • Improved self-awareness.
  • Fine-tuning of training.
  • Functional muscle balance.
